Computer Aided Dispatch
All REMS
Dispatching modules are Windows client-server applications that use Microsoft
MapPoint to provide computer-aided-dispatching functionality.
MapPoint provides
the Dispatcher with the ability to transmit driving directions and maps
directly to mobile computers (or SmartPhones) on
the road.
Emergency Operations Center Display
The Dispatcher’s
screen may be displayed on a large EOC panel, in high resolution, using an
array of four DLP projectors. The
Windows workstation required to drive the EOC panel uses dual off-the-shelf
video cards. It is only marginally
more expensive than a standard Windows workstation.

GPS
The REMS
Server supplies the GPS data collection infrastructure that supports all REMS
Dispatching modules. All REMS mobile
computers (including supported SmartPhones)
automatically send their GPS coordinates to the REMS Server on a periodic
basis. This allows the Dispatcher to
monitor vehicle locations in near-real-time.
