Client-Server Interface
All
Retriever Software Applications are capable of operating in client-server mode
on Windows or Windows Mobile platforms.
Store-and-Forward Advantage
Client-Server
mode of operation provides end users with significant advantages. Foremost is that store-and-forward data
collection is supported. Users can
operate in areas where wireless network coverage is intermittent or non
existent. Once the data is collected,
and the user returns to an area where wireless network
coverage is good, the data is automatically synchronized with the
central database. This makes for the
most robust, fault-tolerant system possible.

Functional Advantages
Client-server
mode of operation allows for the use of peripherals. Windows Mobile devices, such as the
Motorola line of rugged mobile computers, have integrated components such as
GPS, RFID readers, bar code scanners, magnetic strip reader and Bluetooth
portable printers, that can only be effectively utilized in client-server
mode, by a Windows Mobile application running on the device. The Retriever Software Window Mobile Client
supports all of these peripherals and more.
