REMS Logistics
Dispatching
All REMS
Dispatching modules are Windows client-server applications that use Microsoft
MapPoint to provide computer-aided-dispatching functionality. The REMS Logistics Dispatching application
provides an efficient method for managing all aspects of inventory control
and resupply across the theater of operations.
Requisitions
When Shelter
personnel use REMS to enter requests for re-supply, these request are
automatically forwarded to the Logistics Dispatcher. The Dispatcher clicks on a requisition and
all vehicles with the required items onboard are displayed in a list
including their distance from the destination. All warehouses, vehicles, shelters and
points-or-resupply are displayed as icons on the MapPoint based display. Once they are approved, they are forwarded
as ‘orders to be filled’ at the warehouse.
GPS
The REMS
Server supplies the GPS data collection infrastructure that supports all REMS
Dispatching modules. All REMS mobile
computers (including supported SmartPhones)
automatically send their GPS coordinates to the REMS Server on a periodic
basis. This allows the Dispatcher to
monitor vehicle locations in near-real-time.

Emergency Operations Center Display
The
Dispatcher’s screen may be displayed on a large EOC panel, in high
resolution, using an array of four DLP projectors. The Windows workstation required to drive
the EOC panel uses dual off-the-shelf video cards. It is only marginally more expensive than a
standard Windows workstation.
