Store and Forward

Critical to a robust, fault-tolerant system is store-and-forward capability.  REMS utilizes a SQL Server Compact Edition database on all computers deployed in the field.  This allows the REMS application to continue to operate in the absence of a wireless network.

Data can be synchronized between the mobile computer and the central database any time a network connection becomes available.  REMS supported networks include the wireless Internet (GPRS), broadband satellite, WiFi, Bluetooth or ActiveSync.

Web Based Solutions

Any mobile computer that relies entirely on a connection to a web site is not fault-tolerant.  Any interruption in availability or stability of the wireless network renders the entire system inoperable.
